Pedal Play is the 1st mobile bike rodeo. It’s going to debut in Kanata North, Ottawa on Saturday, October 1st in the Beaverbrook and Kanata Lakes neighborhoods. Cyclists of all ages will follow a designated route to parks and schools, to learn about safety though interactive and fun games. The best part they will get to practice these skills!
Participants will check-in at the Beaverbrook Community Centre where there will be provided with a map and passport to start their adventure.
They will stop at many interactive activity stations along the way and collect their participation stickers.
They will have their bikes and helmets checked, learn cycling rules, practice how to properly use roundabouts, gain skills and confidence, and win prizes. The event will wrap up at Whalen Park, where there will be vendor demonstrations, information tables, a food truck, and face painting.
There are 12 groups leaving 15mins apart. The 1st group starts at 10am and the last group will leave the Beaverbrook Community Center at 1pm.
Activities close up at 3pm at Whalen Park.
Children under 12 must be supervised by their parent or family guardian.
It is highly recommended to register before the event as start times are staggered to avoid congestion on the route.
This event is brought to you by the Kanata Beaverbrook Community Association (KBCA) with the support from Councillor Marianne Wilkinson, Safer Roads Ottawa, the Transportation Action Committee Kanata North (TACK), and EnviroCentre’s Sustain Kanata North project.
